At the Riverside it’s no secret, we have a love for the great outdoors.
From dining in one of our gardens next to the historical Houghton Bridge overlooking the River Arun, to cycling along the South Downs Way, to paddle boarding along the serenely enchanting river, we are passionate about sharing this stunningly beautiful National Park with as many people as possible.
We are a family run business who are proud to support local businesses. From “Nick the Egg Man” to “Sue the Cake Lady” and "Mr Farncombe" who supplies our bacon & sausages for our delicious breakfasts, it is important for us at the Riverside to be a part of the local community.

Francesca
Owner
Francesca is the reason we are all here! 10 years ago Francesca took the plunge and started our “Riverside Vision”. With a love of all things cake and cream teas, Francesca is the heart and soul of the Riverside and from our early beginnings has continually taken us from strength to strength.
Terry
Owner
Francesca’s husband , Terry, joined the Riverside team 3 years ago and is responsible for introducing our boat hire and other outdoor activities. With a love for the ‘great outdoors” Terry is perfectly placed to bring together all of our activities to make your visit as pleasurable as possible.
Chris
Outdoor Activities Manager
Chris has extensive retail management and made the shift to Riverside to enjoy our fantastic location whilst bringing all of his experience to bear. As bike hire manager, Chris is responsible for the maintenance of our bikes as well as our outboard engines and pretty much anything else he get can lay his hands on. Also one of our Mountain Bike Leaders, Chris is a very capable team member
Charlotte
Assistant / Kitchen Manager
Charlotte is the lynch-pin in our restaurant setup and has been with us for over 10 years. Knowing exactly how to keep your appetites satisfied, from breakfast, lunch or one of our amazing afternoon teas, Charlotte's team are responsible for the delivery of our high quality food & beverages, ensuring you always leave with a smile on your face.
Lilla
Restaurant Duty Manager
Lilla has been at the Riverside for over 5 years and is one of the most hard working and conscientious people we have ever met. A fantastic co-ordinator, Lilla ensures that when you’re dining with us, everything goes as smoothly as possible
